3.38 of 5 star
Eighteen year old Caitlin Paine finds herself uprooted from her nice suburb and forced to attend a dangerous New York City high school when her Mom moves again. The one ray of light in her new surroundings is Jonah, a new classmate who takes an instant liking to her.

But before their romance can blossom, Caitlin suddenly finds herself changing. She is overcome by a superhuman strength, a sensitivity to light, a desire to feed--by feelings she does not understand. She seeks answers to what’s happening to her, and her cravings lead her to the wrong place at the wrong time. Her eyes are opened to a hidden world, right beneath her feet, thriving underground in New York City. She finds herself caught between two dangerous covens, right in the middle of a vampire war.

It is at this moment that Caitlin meets Caleb, a mysterious and powerful vampire who rescues her from the dark forces. He needs her to help lead him to the legendary lost artifact. And she needs him for answers, and for protection. Together, they will need to answer one crucial question: who was her real father?

But Caitlin finds herself caught between two men as something else arises between them: a forbidden love. A love between the races that will risk both of their lives, and will force them to decide whether to risk it all for each other…(less)

WHAT eBookFilter IS ABOUT?

How do we know that an indie eBook for young-adult readers doesn’t contain foul language and obscene scenes?

How safe is to buy a self-published book if nobody filters the words the author used and the scenes she or he describes in the story?

Bad language and erotica have leaked into young-adult and new-adult titles in the past few years. If you care what you read make sure you visit us and check the eBooks you plan to buy for context and readability.

Before you spend your hard-earned money on an indie or self-published book check with us to make sure it fits your taste.

How can I check an eBook for context?

The easiest way to learn about the language the author used in a book is to search each word or specific words in the book and see the number of times they appear. You may check out the reading level of the book too.

Browse for titles or authors on this site and click the Word Frequency link to gain access to the list of words. On every title page appears the Readability Statistics as well.

If you don’t find the title you are looking for please send us request to submissions.ebookfilter@gmail.com. Please include the title of the book and the author. Usually it takes 48- 72 hours for the requested title to appear on the website. The sender will be notified by email.

Why should I care about the context of an eBook?

If you are a parent then I’m sure you’d like to know that the book your daughter or son has been reading is age appropriate or not. Also, not every adult reader has the taste for foul language and erotica. Many of the readers like their YA books clean or mild. But how can you be sure that you are purchasing a clean read if you only read a sample? Well, visit us and check eBooks for bad words you are about to purchase.

This website provides a free service and has been created for the reading community. Please submit eBooks you own and help us increase our database.
For submission requirements please click here.

We are adding new titles every day that are available for free at online bookstores but we need your help to gain access to paid eBooks. Please submit eBooks you own to submissions.ebookfilter@gmail.com. For submission requirement please click here.

This website simply shares information about eBooks and in no way shares, distributes, or makes eBooks available for download on this website. You will only find an Amazon link for purchasing a book under every title.

You can search as many titles as you please.

Word Frequency and Readability Statistics

How Word Frequency works?

Using Supermagnus Software Word Counter Version 10.2.1, our team searches eBooks for context and readability. The results are saved in a Microsoft Word Excel worksheet. The downloadable spreadsheet will display every word that appears in the searched eBook as well as how many times each word appears. The list of the words is organized in alphabetical order, and it is easy to find certain words you are interested in. You can also use the ‘find’ option on the page for foul and profane words to decided if the Book is a right match for you or not.

What can you tell me ABOUT Readability Statistics?

“Many formulas exist to judge readability and caution must be exercised when applying a readability test to a document. Some tests are more appropriate for certain types of documents and it is important to think carefully when choosing a test. Some tests are better for text written at a grade school level, some are better for technical manuals, and some are considered flexible enough to judge the readability of almost any type of text.

Word Counter makes estimates for various elements of the text including the number of syllables and number of sentences. These estimates might deviate from counts done manually. In addition, even though many of the readability scores require a short passage of around 100 words, Word Counter will make its estimates based on the entire text. This should help average out any of the discrepancies in the estimates. In testing Word Counter and comparing the results to other online tools, some of the estimates were found to vary widely, probably because of differing underlying computer algorithms to make the estimates. Note that Word Counter includes all of the text every time it performs readability calculations, regardless of the preferences set for ignoring words based on length or the exclusion list.

Keep in mind that all of the measures are simply standardized ways to judge the readability of text and none are perfect, and their pros and cons have been debated for years. A 1939 article by Irving Lorge in The Elementary English Review appropriately states: "It seems reasonable to conclude that reading difficulty is a difficult criterion to define." If you would like to learn more about readability, there are multiple online references describing these measures and the appropriate uses for them. A very good reference is The Principles of Readability, by William H. DuBay.”
